Premier Women

The Premier Women will finally hit the pitch after a long winter break. The ladies haven’t played a game since November 19, when they took on Castaways and narrowly lost by 2 points.

This weekend will be another test against a strong CW team but the the ladies anxious to kick off the season after a long break.  The Piggies have lost mommies-to-be Jamaina Mcleod, Morgan Gregson and Brandi VanEewuan but are happy to have Bristin Gibbons and Stacey Collison back in the line up.

1st Division Men

The Piggies will travel to Port this weekend to resume their Cowichan Cup campaign.  The boys really need to come together this weekend and put some positive results on the board.  Coach Boner feels that if they can pull positives from their last game against Nanaimo 2nds, which they won handily, they should be able to challenge Port.

2nd Division Men

The 2nd (or 3rd, depending on who you ask) division play begins this weekend for the Piggies as they host an old foe, JBAA.  It’s been a while since a match at this level has been held between the Bays and Piggies.  Like the Piggies, the Bay will have some old familiar faces mixed with some of their young up and comers.   Should be fun and feisty, as always!

Mini Rugby

Cowichan will be holding a Mini Rugby Try the Game for Free session this Sunday at 11 am.  The event is open to boys and girls ages 6 – 12.  Please pass this along to any family or friends who have little ones who are curious about trying mini rugby!

First Cap, First Touch, First Try

Congratulations to Cowichan’s George Barton earned his first cap against Chile last weekend (the previous match vs Argentina was not an official test).  George came off the bench with a bang last Saturday – scoring a try in his first cap, and on his first touch of the game! George took a feed from Phil Mack a metre out and crashed across for the try – a quintessential Bulldozer Barton try!  Well done George!
