Cowichan Cup Semi-Final

Play-off time has arrived. Tomorrow, the Piggies will travel over the Hump to Port Alberni to play the Cowichan Cup semi-final.  The Piggies are riding a 2-game win streak over the Sheep and intend to make it 3.   As you may recall, the last match between the two sides was close, ultimately decided by the more dominate forward pack.

However it plays out tomorrow, it’s all of nothing.  The victor moves on to the Cowichan Cup final, the loser will be left to wonder what could have been.

The other semi-final will be in Victoria, Velox hosting Nanaimo.  Velox is clearly the favorite in this match up but Nanaimo has been steadily improving in the second half of the season.  Will it be enough for an upset?  We shall all know around 2:30 pm tomorrow.

Minis

Last weekend Cowichan held it’s annual mini-rugby jamboree at Shawnigan Lake School.  Over 300 mini ruggers attended from across the Island, the Mainland and as far away as Seattle.  The Junior Association lead by former Junior Piggie Kenton McNutt did an outstanding job – as usual.

Congratulations to the Junior Society leadership and all the Piglets who represented Cowichan.
