Red Arrow Appreciation Day & New Kit

Games this Weekend:

Saturday, February 27

Premier Women @ Capilano RFC, k/o 11:30 am
1st Division Men @ UVic Saxons, k/o 11:30 am (note game time change from originally posted online)
Both Senior teams will be on the road this weekend. The ladies will be traveling to North Van looking to upset Caps who stole a game from the Piggies when they visited Piggie Park earlier this season.

The guys will play the Saxons at UVic. This will be the only time the Piggies play the Saxons this season. The Saxons are playing in the league but not competing for a spot in the final standings. UVic is holding 3 games Saturday with the Vikes (Prems) and Norse (Prem-1sts) hosting CW so we expect this to be a very young side rather than a mixture of players from the higher divisions.

Red Arrow Appreciation Day

There wasn’t as much rugby played as originally planned but that didn’t stop anyone from celebrating Red Arrow Appreciation Day.

There are many thanks to go around for making it a great day:

  • Jenna and Kaelyn for the salads
  • Craig Harman of Glenora Creek Custom Meats for providing the delicious brats
  • Bergy for cooking them up (and tidying up after as well)
  • The social committee plus Gordy for organizing the 1st Annual CRFC – Red Arrow Flip Cup Championship
  • Mike and Micha for tending bar in Badger’s absence (they were kept very busy)
  • Lawson Kelly featuring Nenagh for keeping us dancing till the wee hours!

The Flip Cup Tournament was won by the young bucks, the Narcos.  Best uniform went to the Cougs!

3rd Division Men 36 – Velox 5

The day was supposed to be a double-header against Westshore 3rds and B (their 2nd 1st Div team) teams, but unfortunately with Velox A playing in Victoria vs Port Alberni, the B side couldn’t muster enough bodies for the game.

After a little to and fro, Velox agreed to play an extended game of 3 periods where both 1st div and 3rd div players could get a run.  It didn’t quiet end up going as smoothly as hoped and in the end, the Cowichan boys played the last period as an inter-squad.

Nonetheless, it gave the Piggie Nation a chance to see the newly unveiled alternate kit provided by Red Arrow Brewing…   and without further ado…
