Double let down

The day of green that could have been but wasn’t. The Piggies fail to defend home field against Westshore.

Games this weekend:

Saturday, March 25:

Premier Women host Seattle Saracens, 12 noon k/o

1st Division Men @ Nanaimo Hornets, 1:30 pm k/o

1st Division Men 12 – Westshore Velox 34

The Piggies came out flat and Westshore was ready, and took a bonus point with them.  A disappointing result considering the positive momentum the boys had been building to this point.

The Piggies will refocus themselves for their final regular season against Nanaimo.  The Piggies have yet to beat the Hornets this season – an usual situation in our history.  The boys will be looking to change that and end the regular season on a positive note.

Nanaimo regained first place after a commanding win over a depleted Black Sheep side.  The Piggies slide to third place after last weekend but may be able to flip places with with a big win and bonus point – should the Sheep rally and beat Westshore this weekend.  This will be the best case scenario as it would give the Piggies at least one more home game this spring.

Premier Women 12 – Westshore Velox 72

With the excitement of visiting national players Kayla Mack and Magali Harvey suitng up in the black and green, expectations were high.  Unfortunately, it just wasn’t to be.  The Piggies just couldn’t get anything going offensively.  It was a frustrating – the few good phases of rugby the girls strung together ended in knock ons.  Realistically it was a long shot to upset WS.  They are a heavily loaded, well trained side that executive their game plan effectively… something to strive for!
