Back at it!

The Piggies return to action after the Thanksgiving break and a wild weekend of wet weather that caused the closure of every pitch on the Island, save one.  Can you which which?

That’s right, Piggie Park.   Cuz we never close.

U18 Boys host Westshore, 2:30 pm k/o

1st Division Men 0 vs Port Alberni Black Sheep 36

Nothing much to say about this result except disappointing.  It was a hard loss for the team, especially coming off their first win at JBAA and the game being at home.

The boys will rebound, continue to train hard and look for an improved effort against Nanaimo this weekend.  The Piggies v Hornets game is the VIRU feature game of the week.  Hoping the Piggie Nation will turn out in force at Bennet Park Saturday!

Thank you to Mike Roberts for providing the delicious feast of roast dear post game.

Premier Women @ Westshore

The Premier Women start the official season this weekend after the weather cancellation last weekend (previous game was exhibition).  The gals are anxious to get at it after weeks of preparation.  The Piggies matched up well against Westshore last season and are looking to start their season with a big win!

2nd Division Women @ Westshore

The Twos will return to the pitch as well this weekend, also at Westshore.  This young team will be looking to even things up, having lost their first match to Westshore.  The team is slowly building their numbers with new and returning players which is great news for this development team.

Junior Rugby

Sunday will be a busy day at Piggie Park as all the Junior Piggies teams will be hosting their games.  The girls group will be hosting Comox Kickers, the U16 Boys host Abbotsford and U18 host Westshore.

Cowichan is running Junior teams in all categories except U14 boys, with well over 100 kids registered.  The health of our club is directly tied to the hard work and dedication of the Junior coaches and administrators.  The numbers at the junior ranks tell that tale but so does the make up of all of our Senior teams, with over 80% of senior players being Cowichan ‘born and bred’.

Cheers to all of you.
