Barton to Represent Canada

Games this Weekend:

Saturday, February 4:

  • 1st Division Men host Port Alberni Black Sheep, k/o 12 noon

Game Report:  1st Division Men vs Nanaimo 2

Last Saturday, the Piggies traveled north to play an exhibition match against the newly formed Nanaimo 2nd XV.   Coach Boner took the opportunity to use this match to try move players around into different positions and try new systems.

The score was pretty one-sided in Cowichan’s favor and certainly wasn’t reflective of the young Hornet’s abilities.

Thanks to Gudy for driving the bus!

The Piggies spent this week focusing on tomorrow’s match against Port Alberni Black Sheep.  The Sheep lost a close match to Westshore last weekend and so far have gotten the better of the Piggies this season.  This weekend the Piggies will be looking to reverse that trend.

Please note, kick off is at NOON this Saturday.

Americas Rugby Challenge

The opening game of the ARC will kick off tomorrow at Westhills Stadium, Langford 5:00 pm.  Cowichan RFC is very excited that George Barton has been named to the squad.  George is with his second season Clermont Academy (France) and having represented Canada at the age-grade level, will be stepping up the senior side for the first time.

George joins a long line of Cowichan Junior Rugby players to join the Canada ranks.  And as always, the Piggie Nation is extremely proud of his accomplishments!  We look forward to seeing him step onto the pitch tomorrow evening!

Mini Rugby – Try for Free

Cowichan will be hosting a try the game for free day on February 19, starting at 11:00 am.  This event is open to all boys and girls from 6 – 12 years old.  Please pass it along.  More information can be found on the Cowichan Junior Rugby Facebook page.
