MEN'S TRAINING

Going real well with the club grounds being clear of snow for the last 3 sessions. Last Thursday saw 45ish Men out to training and 34 out to the optional Saturday Training session which is super. The boys are very upbeat and with new players arriving every training session the squad is beginning to gel. Training this week will be Tuesday and Thursday, 7pm sharp at the club grounds. Let's get everyone out so we can be one cohesive unit by week end.

Capilanos this weekend over at Klahani Park for our Premier and 1st Division sides. The Capilano home field is a great facility with covered stands and clubhouse attached. It is about 15 minutes from the Horseshoe Bay Ferry terminal and is right of the main drag. We will be busing over and arrangements for ferries will be confirmed after Tuesday evening training. Later this week I will post directions so our fans who come over in personal vehicles can get there.

GAMES THIS WEEKEND, January 24 & 25.

CDI 1st Div. Men: Saturday, January 24 @ 1:00pm      Cowichan vs Capilanos @ Klahani park
CDI Premiership Men: Saturday, January 24 @ 2:45pm  Cowichan vs Capilanos @ Klahani Park

WATER ISSUE BEHIND GRAND STANDS

We have determined we have a leak in our water line behind the stands. This is being rectified at present. Until the problem has been solved, water at the club has been shut down and will be turned on only when needed on Training evenings.

RULES OF THE GAME:  FIELD DIMENSIONS

Rugby is played on a field, called a pitch, that is longer and wider than a football field,
more like a soccer field. A typical pitch is a maximum 100 meters (110 yards) long maximum 70 meters (75 yards) wide. Additionally, there are 10-22 meter end zones, called the in-goal area, behind the goalposts. The goalposts are 'H'-shaped cross bars located on the goal line and are the same size as American football goalposts.

JUNIORS OUT TO PLAY SENIOR RUGBY

Several Junior Men have decided to make the step into Men's rugby and they are all fitting in nicely and positioning themselves and competing for starting positions on at least on one of the three men's squads. The intense training and level of instruction will no doubt make these Juniors the dominant players when they start their respective High School leagues. Junior players are again reminded that their Junior dues cover their registration fees for Senior Men's rugby. So I encourage more young men and women to come out Tuesday's and Thursday's to train with the men! We have a place to play for you!

U-16 AND U-14 BOYS RUGBY

We will have very strong squads in age grade rugby this Spring. Training has begun and is on Wednesday evenings.

The two squads will challenge for the Island and Provincial titles this Spring considering the formidable talent on these teams. Again, local High School Junior players in Grade 10 are encouraged to come out and participate in club rugby. It will elevate your High School rugby to the next level.
