MANDATORY TRAINING FOR MEN'S RUGBY

GRANDSTAND MOVE
No turning back now! Nichol Bros are on site with their 4 big trucks readying the stands for the big move. The 2' thick "I'" beams were imported from Everette, WA to do the job. The new site has been excavated 3' deep by 100' long by 35' to accept the moved stands!
WEDNESDAY MORNING @ 8:00am is when they begin the move...or the launch. As with any launch, the King and Queen will be present to break the bottle of champagne on the bow! Alan Nichol of Nichol Bros. indicates that the move will take less than an hour.

RUGBY 7's
I am throwing this out there that the VIRU move towards a Summer 2010 7's Series on the Island. With the Olympics now endorsing Rugby 7's as a sport in 2016, I think we have an opportunity to move towards Island Rugby incorporating Men's and Women's 7-a-side rugby here. Let's say a 4 game "tournament" schedule involving 4 Island venues. I can see 4-5 clubs being involved. Great revenue generator for host clubs..etc...etc.
We have the know-how on the island with 3 former and current Canada 7's coaches on the Island, several former captains and lots of bodies that run around and play touch rugby through the summer..... We would be the only organized 7's league in Canada which would no doubt garner the attention of players that want to perhaps have the opportunity to partipate in the Olympics......
Any ideas? I will be broaching the subject at the next VIRU meeting.
