CLUB AND GROUNDS CLEAN-UPGood showing of about 50 members on Saturday to give the club and grounds a good scrubbing. Thanks to the organizers and all the people who came out. Pam cooked up a great meal which was enjoyed by everyone.
Jobs completed:
- Refurbish woman's washroom in clubhouse.
- Clean up plumbing in basement.
- Pressure wash everything.
- Paint interior trim upstairs
- Burn a ton of junk.
- Trim hedges.
- New gravel for walkways
- Clean up and level area along new fence.
- Clean up playground equipment.
- Tidy inside and out.
The next step is to fill the large hole and organize the parking lot once it dries out.
UPCOMING GAMES
Probably one of the most important games for the club this next weekend. With the "Powers That Be" still wanting to push relegation, we are in a "must win" situation for the Premier Men down the stretch if we are to gain a playoff spot. The 2nd XV is in the thick of things currently at 5-3 and sit comfortably in 5th position. The men play the Vancouver Rowing Club, Bayside Sharks and Velox in the coming weeks.
Both Men's sides are on the mainland this weekend taking on the Vancouver Rowing Club at Brockton Oval. The Rowers are 3 points behind us in the standings and a victory for us will put us back in the hunt for a playoff spot.
The Premier Women will host Burnaby Lake this Saturday at Cowichan's Herd Rd. field.
The week off will see lots of players get a much needed rest, heal up some niggling injury situations and get rid of that nasty cold players have been battling through in the last couple of games.
BC PREMIER FINAL
The BCRU is looking for an Island site for the Premier Final. Apparently Cowichan is the only grounds available mid-May on the Island therefore we are looking into planning for this if it comes our way. This could perhaps mean three BC Championship games at Herd Rd. We are in discussion and will know more later.
