Welcome to the 2016-2017 Season

Welcome back Piggie Nation! It doesn’t seem that long of a break but we hope everyone had a nice summer and is raring to go for the 2016-2017 season.

The schedules for all senior teams is online. It may change, it almost always does, but we’ll notify you if it does: http://www.cowichanrugby.ca/events

The Piggies will be easing themselves into the season, starting with the 1st Division Men Saturday, September 10th. The ladies will follow on the 17th when we’ll have a triple-header weekend… More on that below.

1st Division Men

Hello Piggie Nation!

First off i’d like to thank past head coach Gord McGeachy for all his time over the last years.
The season ahead will have many challenges in defending our Island Championship – Cowichan Cup in the spring, to recapturing the Times Cup in the fall. I’m hopeful with all the young talented players coming through our junior programs that the club will continue to be a competitive part of Vancouver Island rugby.

See you Saturday! Home vs Nanaimo!!

Cheers,

Andrew (Boner) Wright

Women’s Rugby

The women’s team is still waiting on a schedule but have been training weekly Tuesday and Thursday with the hopes of starting the season September 17th.

Cowichan is venturing into new territory this season with the addition of a second women’s team! There has been a lot of interest from “retired” players wanting to play, as well as other players not interested or not ready for Premier – so this second team will be part of the 2nd Division league. This new division will be a developmental division and will play on a limited basis.

Both the schedules were released and posted to the CRFC website but are in the process of being revised. Check back for updates as they come!

Best of luck to the newest team wearing black and green!

Piggy Pale Ale Keg Donation

Last year’s key donation was a mind boggling success Piggie Nation so let’s keep it going! There are several ways to make sure you can contribute to this program:

Drop by or call Red Arrow Brewing and order it directly
Order via the Club’s PayPal checkout
Drop by for a pint at the Lion Rampant in Maple Bay. The Lion is giving the Club 25c for every pint sold.
Buy Piggy at your local liquor store (25c from every sale is accumulated and returned to the Club as a keg).
Our continual thanks to Red Arrow Brewing and Lance and Liz Stewart for their support!
