Wrapping up 2014

The cold weather has arrived and so has the end of the first half of the season.  Here is a small summary of our teams so far.

1st Division Women

Our lovely ladies competing in the BC Wide 1st Division finish 2014 with a 3-2 record and sit in 2nd place in the standings.  The ladies finished off the fall season with two impressive wins, scoring 141 to only 20 against!

The ladies will resume in the new year.  The schedule will be posted once available.

1st Division Men

The 1st division men, competing in both the Cowichan Cup and Times Cup competitions, sitting 2-2 for 3rd place in Cowichan Cup and 3-0 for 1st place (tied with Norseman) in Times Cup.   The men’s final game vs Nanaimo was a hard hitting battle won in the dying seconds of the game by a great try from Mike Roberts after some great scrumming at the goal line.

Junior Piggies

We had 3 teams competing in the Junior competitions this fall plus our littlest Piglets participating in various jamborees.

U16 Boys

The U16 boys will be competing for the BCRU Bowl final in February.  Originally scheduled for this past weekend but the weather didn’t cooperate.  Stay tuned for updates on that match.

U18 Men

The U18 men’s finished the season on a high, winning the BCRU Bowl Final over Ravens 12 – 5.  Congratulations to the boys and coaching staff.

U18 Women

The U18 Women had a very short season with very fews teams to play against.  The girls were successful nonetheless, completing the season with a win in the Island Championship over the combined CW/Velox team… and with 12 players, no less.

Unfortunately, due to reasons difficult and frustrating to explain, the girls were denied the opportunity to compete for the BCRU final.  Nonetheless, the Piggie Nation is very proud of the girls and their success.  Our women’s program will benefit from these hardworking girls.

Social Season

The Christmas festivities are upon us!  The events start with Ugly Sweater night and Christmas tree decorating on December 11 and the annual Christmas Party on December 13.  Please contact Stacey Collisson for more details

Canada 7s

Big congrats to former Piggie, current Vike Pat Kay for being named to the Canada 7s side competing in Dubai this week.  Best of luck Pat – play like a Viking with a heart of a Piggie
