1st Division Women

The ladies team will host another mainland team this weekend as Abbotsford come to Piggie Park.  The Piggies will be looking for their 3rd consecutive win but will doing it without the help of their 2 internationals Laura Russell and Tyson Beukeboom who are in England for a trio of internationals.

Laura and Tyson will be among the most experience players on the side as Canada looks to rebuild the program after the World Cup this past August.  Laura will be captaining Canada for the duration of the tour.  We wish both well on their short tour.

The Piggies will look forward to playing Abbotsford, who they haven’t crossed paths with for a few years owing to playing in different divisions.  Abbotsford solely possess 1st place in the division with a perfect 6-0 record. The rapidly improving Piggies will looking to disrupt Abby’s roll and improve their own standings.

Kick off is 11:30 am at Piggie Park.

1st Division Men

The Men will host their barnyard foes, the Black Sheep, tomorrow in Times Cup play.  The Piggies currently sit on the top of the Times Cup standings with a perfect 3-0 record.  The boys have been idle for the past two weeks and are keen to get back on the pitch to exact some revenge, having lost to the Black Sheep in their meeting up in Port Alberni.

Kick off time is 2:30 pm tomorrow.

Junior Rugby

The U-14 boys stunned Shawnigan Lake grade 8’s last weekend with a punishing up front, grind it out style of play that would have made Gudmund proud! The boys came out on the wrong end of the score but they boys put in a very valiant and made the Stags work very hard for the win.  These Piggies are steadily improving each week under the guidance of Noah and Randy.  It’s awesome to know that CRFC’s strong tradition of junior development continues…. so much so under the guidance of two junior rugby alums.

The U-18 Boys were hosted by James Bay last Sunday, besting the Jr Bays 53 – 0 in what was a very physical match by both teams. The Cowichan team has moved through the age-grade ranks together and the scores show it.  Big props to the Jr Bays, they played hard to the final whistle!

Play Ground & Tidy Up

Last weekend an enormous amount of work was put in at the club!  The kids playground was completed, the club was cleaned up and additional field lights were installed.  The place looks amazing.  Our thanks to the crew of amazing volunteers!
