U17 Boys Win Island Championship

U-17 BOYS: Cowichan 14 vs Castaway Wanderers 12

Cowichan takes the Ed Bryans Memorial Cup as Champions of the Island!
The Under 17 Cowichan Piggies traveled down to Windsor Park then, finding that the game had been moved, ended up at Wallace Field out at U-Vic in order to take on the powerful Castaway Wanderers U-17 bunch. The Doug Tait coached and undefeated Castaway Wanderers crew were confident on the day taking on the Jake Teufel coached Cowichan boys. Despite that last minute change of venue and playing on the road, the boys from Cowichan were resolute in their goal of coming away with victory.
Not much on the game other than it was close fought victory for the locals. I am sure we’ll get a game report soon. Good job for the new crew of coaches including Jake Teufel, JT Rownotham, Malcolm Sacht and Michael Rea.
Next Saturday the boys will travel to Vancouver to  Klahanie Park (tbc) where they will meet the Capilano for the BC Championship. The Caps came away with a close fought 26-24 victory against Bayside on the mainland this past weekend to punch their ticket to the final. The final is on the mainland as a mainland team were champions the previous year.
For those interested in following the Cowichan U-17’s to the Mainland this weekend, the bus will be heading over and there will be room for spectators.
